Sugar scrub

scrub.jpg

DESCRIPTION

Our hand and body sugar scrub is made with all vegetable and organic ingredients. Normally, scrubs are used simply as a mild exfoliator, helping to remove dead skin cells; but ours is much more than that! it includes rich moisturizers, emulsifiers, oils and fatty acids, essentially making it a scrub WITH moisturizing qualities.

WHY SUGAR?

We could have used salt; but it tends to create an un-appealing pool of oil on the product. We found sugar actually absorbs more of the oils. Also, Salt can tend to be extremely abrasive, while sugar is much milder, and more apt to remove just the dead skin cells, leaving your healthy skin growing underneath unharmed.

When using, we suggest mixing it with a little water, and scrub away. After rinsing you will notice your skin is soft and conditioned, without the greasy after-feel of most salt scrubs, which leaves you just wanting to wash your hands again. Try it for yourself, we know you'll love it!

Lip Balm

all natural lip balm

Lip balm has been around for over 100 years. But it took a wrong turn right at the beginning. The inventor of lip balm, Dr. C. D. Fleet, started an unfortunate trend by using petroleum jelly in his Chap Stick lip balm, and it's only become clear in recent years just how ineffective petroleum jelly is as a lip balm. At best, since petroleum jelly isn't absorbed by the skin, it provides only a short-term fix for dry, chapped lips. And since it keeps the skin from breathing, it can actually make your lips more chapped and cause other infections. Many conventional lip balms that contain petrolatum-based ingredients like mineral oil appear slick and emollient, but because the skin can't absorb them, they don't actually condition or heal chapped lips. In fact, they just lie on the surface, creating an impermeable barrier that can actually clog the skin and lead to breakouts and bacterial infections.

Petroleum-based lip balm doesn't fix the problem that causes dry chapped lips. Instead, it basically acts as a band-aid -- slightly moisturizing the surface of the lips and trapping the moisture there, thus temporarily making the lips less dry. But to keep your lips moist using petroleum-based lip balm, you need to frequently reapply the lip balm.. You may as well save your money and just lick your lips all the time -- that has the same temporary effect, and it doesn't run the risk that bacteria will be trapped between the greasy lip balm and the skin, causing further irritation and even infection.

why our lip balm works

Our lip balms do not contain any petroleum based products. Our simple list of ingredients are less than half the size of any store bought versions, and the oils we use are extremely beneficial to your lips.

We include natural moisturizers like shea butter, beeswax, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and cocoa butter; all of which actually penetrate the your skin. Shea butter's effect on the skin is different from that of petroleum jelly. Instead of lying inert on the surface of the lips, it is absorbed by the skin cells, and because it improves the moisture retention capacity of your lips, your lips become dry and chapped much less frequently.

In early adulthood, all of our skin cells (including those in our lips) begin to become more porous and less elastic. If shea butter (a substance that both moisturizes the skin and restores the skin cells' elasticity) is applied to the lips, then not only are the cells hydrated, but they gradually regain their natural elasticity so that they are better able to keep moisture from escaping. Because unrefined shea butter contains both a high moisturizing fraction and an extraordinarily high healing fraction, it is a wonderful agent for revitalizing our skin cells so that they get back their moisture retention capacity.

Evening primrose oil
GLA and fatty acid content in this oil is essential for skin health. The oil extracted from evening primrose seeds is a very gentle moisturizer. It also boosts blood circulation which is helpful to treat tired skin and eyes.

Rose Hip Seed Oil
Rosehip seed oil is truly an amazing oil. This unique oil is extremely high in essential fatty acids and has carried much respect amongst professional journals and organizations as being a great agent in the fight against dry, weathered, and dehydrated skin. It works wonders on scars and is the predominant oil used for treating wrinkles and premature aging. It is a wonderful hydrator, and penetrates dry or damaged skin immediately.

Carrot Seed Extract
Carrot Oil has anti-acne and anti-aging properties. Carrot seed oil also assists in removing toxin and water build up in the skin giving it a fresher more firmer appearance.

Because carrot seed oil is high in antioxidants, these components can help protect your skin from environmental assaults like UV rays, pollution, and stress.

What’s magical about carrot seed oil, however, is its ability to rejuvenate skin. Scientists think this has something to do with the “carotol,” a primary component found in carrot seed oil. The oil also has moisturizing vitamin E and protective vitamin C, which work together to help encourage healing and to rejuvenate skin cells and bring new life to skin.

It is also this ability that makes carrot seed oil a great anti-aging ingredient, as well. Rejuvenating skin cells and encouraging new growth is at the center of combating the appearance of aging. If you have dry or oily skin, you don’t have to worry—like many natural oils, carrot seed oil has the ability to balance both! It gives skin just enough moisture without clogging pores, making it perfect for all skin types.

In fact, anyone with dull, lifeless skin should definitely look for carrot seed oil in their skin care products. It’s abilities to rejuvenate, heal, and protect will have you looking more lively in no time.
